Ways To Brighten Up A Bathroom

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

There are many small and easy bathroom remodeling projects that you can take up for an absolutely different look. They are not even very time consuming. So, instead of an entire bathroom remodel, small changes can also work well.

Using some innovative ideas can freshen up the look of your bathroom and that too in a very economical way. With a little change in the placement of things, lighting, color, and other accessories you can bring in a lot of difference in the feel and look of a place.

Here are some ideas for making simple changes to the bathroom by changing or adding lighting accessories. And through these, you can bring real style, wonderful color, and convenience to your bathroom.

There should be adequate lighting in a bathroom. It should not be too dark there. So you can install a 5 or 7- light fixture instead of 2 or 3- light fixture. Installing recessed lighting is a good option. Go for higher watt bulbs.

If there’s just no solution with the fixture you have, replace it with one that allows for more light. This is a good opportunity to choose one that enhances your decorating theme and fits the style of your bathroom. You might get a fresh look and more light by simply replacing the glass globes from frosted to clear.

Dimmer switches are becoming very popular these days. You have full control over the lighting level and can change it as per your requirements. Through these you can create different moods by making the lights dim or bright. These are very convenient to use and also helps in saving energy.

Wall sconces look good in bathrooms. You can place them on the sides of a mirror. But make sure to place them at correct level. They should be placed just above the eye level. Another thing to keep in mind before starting with the installation is to check for an electrical point near by. If you are not able to handle it’s installation alone, you can call in a professional expert.

If your bathroom vanity has enough counter top space and an electrical outlet handy, place a small table lamp there. Keep the lamp a safe distance from the water source. A decorative lamp adds a warm charm to the room and serves as a nice alternative to a night light.
