Making the decision to add a little water fun in your outdoor space can be a challenging one. Trying to decide between all of the options can be overwhelming. You may be trying to decide between a home spa and pool. There are several benefits to both, and you must take into consideration several items before making your final decision.

First, you should consider your budget. For the most part, home spas or hot tubs cost much less than an in-ground pool. An above ground pool model is an option but many do not like how they look. Remember than any addition will probably add value to your home, but how much value is dependent on how much you spend upfront.

Consider safety and the upkeep of whatever you decide. For example, a pool requires much more maintenance since you have to constantly clean it. Both options require filter changes and chemical cleaners. Hot tubs and spas are easier to cover and lock than pools. This will prevent children and pets from falling in. A pool is much more difficult to prepare for safety.

Next, consider the climate you live in, how much space you have, and what you intend to use your addition for. For example, if you live in the Southwest where temperatures are warm nearly all year long, a pool might be a better option for you. However, if you live in the Northeast where even summer evenings are chilly, a hot tub might be the perfect way to keep you warm at night. If you have limited space, a hot tub is a great option because it is more compact. If you like the idea of using jets and relaxing in heated water, a hot tub again is the better option.

Getting a swimming pool in your house can be a lot of fun but it is also an expensive option! You definitely want to make sure you that you chose the exact type of pool that is right for you and your house, family and needs. It’s not as if you can just swap it for a new one when the pool is built so you need to get it right first time to avoid any nasty surprises when you get the pool ready for use!

One of the most important decisions you’ll have to make when buying a new swimming pool is the type. There are two broad categories – above ground and in ground. However there are many variation of these too, but they should be your first decision.

When most people think of a swimming pool in their back garden they imagine an in ground pool. As the name suggests these are built into the ground and are hence a permanent feature of the garden. For that reason you can pretty much get them in whatever size and shape you desire as they are custom built, but they can cost a lot. Most in ground pools will fun into the thousands of pounds and they can be a lot more.

Another choice you should think about is the size of the pool. Make sure that you still have room around the edges in your garden so it is not completely filled.

Many people struggle when trying to choose between an in ground and above ground pool, but in reality for a lot of people the choice so already made for them. In ground pools usually cost a lot more so if you don’t have the budget to cover it then you’ll have to go for an above ground.

There are lots of other factors to decide on, and you should spend as much time as possible looking at them before you make your final decision as it will definitely pay off in the long run.

Electric Pool Heaters

A popular type of pool heater are the electric pool heaters, which are more sophisticated than gas powered heaters, and offer some great savings. In this article, I’m going to be telling you more about these bill savings, and some drawbacks that you need to know before you make a decision about buying one.

Believe it or not, electric pool heaters are quite similar to air conditioning units, which work on the same principle . You may have heard of heat pumps in science. That is what electric pool heaters are. They move heat from one medium to another.

With these heaters, the heat comes out of the air surrounding the unit and is transferred into the water that comes from your pool. The water is then returned to the pool where it raises the temperature.

When people look at buying an electric pool heater, one of the things that often puts them off is the high price. These are very expensive heaters to install when compared to gas powered heaters, but they are much much cheaper to run than a gas powered heater, which can cost up to $3000 a year to keep your pool warm.

Electric heat pumps are designed to be an energy efficient option. Because they are using free energy that is available in environments, they are cheaper to run and cost only about half the price of a propane heater.

This is why it electric pool heaters pay for themselves in a short period of time. After this, they are saving you money all the way it often takes less than three years for them to become economical this way.

Under cold conditions, however, electric pool heaters do not perform anywhere near as well as propane heaters do. They can only make use of the heat that already exists in the air, and when the air is cold, it doesn’t have enough heat to warm your pool up to a nice comfortable temperature. When this happens, the heat from the heat pump is still valuable and prevents water from freezing, but it could be very unpleasant to swim in the water.

This leaves you with two different options. One of them is to install a very powerful heat pump which is capable of generating hot water all year round. Another option is to use a secondary heater such as a gas powered heater, which will only operate when the heat from the electric pool heater is not enough. This way, your heating bills will still be low compared to using a gas heater on its own.
